2006 Rioja Tinto, Finca Allende

Rioja Tinto, Finca Allende
The ebullient Miguel Angel Gregorio has revived this fine old estate in Briones which is located in La Rioja Alta just to the south of Haro, employing a restorative architectural fidelity rare in these parts and forging an expensive single vineyard cuvée…somewhat less rare!

The ‘basic’ Finca Allende Rioja always been a BBR favourite; indeed it is one most complete expressions of Tempranillos that one is likely to find . This is evidenced by a generous ruby colour and a nose of spice, damson, forest floor and violets. The palate is marked out by both the generosity of ripe red and black fruit and by the quality of the tannins, which are very finely grained. As always a fine match for chorizo or lamb shanks.
