2002 Gevrey-Chambertin, Combe aux Moines Domaine Joseph Faiveley

Gevrey-Chambertin, Combe aux Moines Domaine Joseph Faiveley
A lovely example of an aged Burgundy showing just a little bit of development.  The nose is full of Black Cherry (Morello) fruit with a hint of Sour Bois and spice, though altogether the aromas are still vibrant and youthful for a 10 year old wine.  Good grip and spicy tannins hold the bramble fruit and hints of five spice together on the palate.  A dark fruited core with good persistent length.
Stuart Rae, BB&R Fine WineDomaine Joseph Faiveley

Quite a deep colour with a powerful nose of black cherry and a some secondary characteristics – forest floor and fungi. Plenty of fruit and grip of the palate. This is very much in the old Faiveley style – a very fine example from a good vintage.
Fergus Stewart, BBR Fine Wine DepartmentDomaine Joseph Faiveley
