Anne McHale will be your enthusiastic guide through this enormously enjoyable One Day Wine School. In a two hour morning session she will discuss the main principles of food and wine matching, talking about such things as weight, flavour intensity, acidity, tannins and the difference between taste and flavour.

A selection of wines and some tiny nibbles will be served in the morning session to illustrate her points, but not too many because we don’t want to spoil for you the main fun of the day – the hedonistic food and wine matching luncheon which will follow the morning session! This luncheon, carefully crafted by our Head Chef Stewart Turner in consulation with Anne, will explore a range of different food and wine matches.

The idea is to illustrate to you that there are some hard and fast rules with which most of us agree, but that food and wine matching is also very subjective and at the end of the day it’s your own palate which counts. You will leave not only with a better understanding of what matches you prefer and why, but also full of ideas as to how to put them into practice at home. Throughout the day a magnificent selection of wines will be tasted, including Champagne, Cru Classé red Bordeaux, fine white Burgundy, New World classics and succulent sweeties.
