2006 Ch. Lynch Bages, Pauillac

Ch. Lynch Bages, Pauillac
Ch. Lynch Bages 2006 is the best young Lynch I have ever tasted and I'm certain this will go down in this great châteaux's history as one of their finest ever. It's a true marvel.
(Simon Staples, Berrys' Sales & Marketing Director)

This is a remarkable 2006: voluptuous and sexy, its massive tannins are cloaked by the hugely concentrated ripe, cedary, brambly fruit, while the sweet, rich, toasty aromas add an extra je ne sais quoi. The purity of fruit on the finish is sensational too. Certainly we cannot recall Lynch having been so far up the Bordeaux quality ladder in any previous year. This is an essential purchase for any Claret lover.Château Lynch Bages

Ch. Lynch Bages, Pauillac
Intense crimson. Lightly fragrant. Soft, spicy, slightly tarry start and then iron hand in that appealing velvet glove. Very nicely done wine but I could do with just slightly more freshness. Competent certainly... A little bit of a fade on the finish. When I tasted it non-blind next to its second wine Haut Bages Averous, I was surprised not to see a greater difference in quality between them. It is certainly denser and drier - in fact the tannins are currently pretty inky on the finish.

Ch. Lynch Bages, Pauillac
This classic, powerful, firm Lynch Bages may be as concentrated (if not more so) than the 2005. It possesses a dense purple-tinged color, tell-tale cassis notes interwoven with hints of roast beef, savory herbs, spice box and subtle oak, good acidity and ripe tannin. The result is a full-bodied, fleshy Pauillac that will benefit from another 3-4 years of cellaring. It is capable of lasting 20-25 more years.
(Robert Parker - Wine Advocate - September 2011)

1988 or 1995-ish in style, rather than 1996, which seems to be the vintage several 2006s recall, this dense purple-colored wine displays sweet notes of creme de cassis, tobacco leaf, licorice, and some cedar and graphite. The wine has plenty of structure a la 1995 and a backward, muscular personality, but beautiful fruit on the attack and alluring purity and a nicely textured mouthfeel. The finish suggests cellaring for 3-5 years and drinking over the following two decades.

Shows very good concentration of currant and berry fruit. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a long, fruity finish. Solid core of everything.
