2010 Berrys' Pomerol, Ch. Feytit-Clinet

Berrys' Pomerol, Ch. Feytit-Clinet
Specially selected for Berrys by Jeremy Chasseuil, from Château Feytit-Clinet, this wine's distinguished origins are clearly evident. Merlot dominates the blend and bestows supple plum and blackberry fruit along with nuances of spiced chocolate to this rich, velvet-textured Claret. Immediately appealing, this versatile wine is excellent with an array of meat dishes, from chargrilled to roasted lamb and beef, as well as duck and porcini.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Thumbs up! If this is a representative snapshot of Bordeaux's 2010 vintage then we have not been led astray by hyperbole. This is a seductive wine - it is far too easy to have a glass or two more than intended - it is delightfully balanced with smooth tannins and surprisingly approachable for such a young wine. A bona fide fine wine. Probably an opportunity to sample an excellent Pomerol from a very good vintage at around half the price of the equivalent chateaux-labelled bottle. 12 May 2013
