2006 Ch. Talbot, St Julien

Ch. Talbot, St Julien
The last couple of years has seen a real resurgence at this popular Bordeaux estate. Its 2006 is a real vin de plaisir but with enough terroir characteristics to retain its sense of place. It is utterly delicious with voluptuous sweet black fruit, a sleek texture and a cigar box notes. Stylistically its generosity makes it the Pomerol of St Julien; it is not far off the quality of its 2005 either.Château Talbot

Round and quite developed-looking. Sweet and relatively light and simple. Very drying finish.

Slightly grey look. Distinctive nose. Fruitier than most - mulberries. Correct palate with no excess of tannins (were some fined out?). Strangely smooth for a 2006.

Ch. Talbot, St Julien
This fruity, soft, somewhat commercial, mid-weight St.-Julien offers sweet black cherry and currant fruit intermixed with subtle herb, spice box, and smoke characteristics. While not particularly concentrated, it is a round, aromatic, soft, sensual 2006 to enjoy over the next 10-13 years.
