2009 Condado de Haza, Crianza, Bodegas Alejandro Fernández

Condado de Haza, Crianza, Bodegas Alejandro Fernandez
Condado De Haza used to be somewhat anonymous, overshadowed by its more famous sibling Pesquera. This is no longer the case. Aged in American oak, the wine is richly coloured with forthright aromatics dominated bynotes of blackberry, licorice, tar and mocha all evidenced.

A sumptuous mouthful, most definitely from the Rubenesque end of the spectrum, the wine does not in fact lack for cerebral appeal, especially in a fine, nicely etched vintage such as 2009. Behind the sun-dried herbs and liqueur de cassis, there are neatly etched tannins and natural balancing mineral acidity at the back in the name of self-restraint.
