Sweet red and black fruit on the nose with some age starting to show with a hint of gaminess. The tannins are finely integrated and the fruit merges seamlessly into a bitter chocolate finish. An ideal partner for a Sunday roast.

This property does, in fact, no longer exist, having been sold in 2006 and since absorbed with 2 other estates in the same ownership to form a new wine called Ch Fayat, which has already earned itself a glowing reputation. Back in 2000 vinification was traditional, with hand-picked grapes fermented in tank before spending 12-18 months in barrel before bottling. 2000 will go down in history as one of the greatest vintages of the last century.Vieux Château Bourgneuf
