Vintage Rhône with Martin Hudson, Long Room Luncheon, 12th November

Vintage Rhone with Martin Hudson, Long Room Luncheon, 12th November
The Rhône Valley is being singled out more and more by discerning wine lovers as one of the most interesting and underrated classic wine regions. We understand why. The valley has a capacity to deliver delicious wines of superb structure, flavour and richness coupled with complexity and everlasting persistence on the palate. The Rhône Valley is still not as fashionable as Bordeaux and Burgundy, but is closing the gap at a faster pace than in the recent past. The wines remain terrific value as well as being the least expected but most successful match with many dishes, but especially pork and venison. We are showcasing some gems at this luncheon including a pairing of Côte Rôtie from the excellent 2001 vintage and the slightly hotter 2003 vintage. The will be another classic pairing of mature Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Hermitage from two renowned producers: Le Nerthe and the mythical Jean-Louis Chave. The dinner will be topped and tailed by a delicious Condrieu, one dry and one, unusually, sweet. Join Martin Hudson MW, our Rhône aficionado, as he entertains you with his knowledge and the wonders of his palate throughout a long relaxing lunch.
