The Mas de Daumas Dinner in the Napoleon Cellar, 19th October 2012

The Mas de Daumas Dinner in the Napoleon Cellar, 19th October 2012
Mas de Daumas Gassac nestles in the beautiful Aniane Valley just to the north of Montpellier. Developed in the late 1970s by Parisian glovemaker Aimé Guibert, the Domaine soon acquired an outstanding reputation and its red wine has been described by no less a luminary than Hugh Johnson as ‘the First Growth of the Languedoc’. The Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated reds have even been compared to Château Lafite. Tonight, in the company of the charismatic Samuel, one of Aimé’s five children, we shall be able to discover why. Accompanied by delicious Mediterranean fare specially prepared by Berrys’ Head Chef Stewart Turner, we shall enjoy eight wonderful wines, including four reds going back to 2000 and 1996, two superb whites from 2009 and 2003 and the outstanding pudding wine, Cuvée Laurence. Indeed such is the dexterity of the Guiberts that they even make a sparkling rosé, which will serve as a more than fitting overture to a sumptuous and symphonic feast.
