Fine White Burgundy, Bordeaux and Austrian Wines Tasting, Thurs 1 Nov

Mark Pardoe will wax lyrical tonight on three of his passions when it comes to hearts of gold in whites. The beauty of white Burgundies from the ‘golden slope’ is well documented and their reputation runs before them. He is also terrifically fond of top white Bordeaux. These of course could be either dry or sweet, but he will sing particularly the praises of the lesser-known dry whites from Pessac-Léognan, whilst reminding us of the beauty of the sweet ones at the end. Before that he will introduce a pair of ‘pretenders to the throne’ of most delicious whites. These marvels from Austria (so often overlooked, which is wonderful price-wise for followers of these delectable wines) are considerd by a small minority as the most dazzling of all, especially when the producers are Prager and Hirtzberger. This tasting is a must for those who seek the very best and have been hitherto unaware of the truly great pedigree behind the wines of the top Austrian masters. An evening to revel in Burgundy, Bordeaux and Austrian whites.
