Dog Point, A Tutored Cellar Tasting Thursday 13th December 2012

Dog Point, A Tutored Cellar Tasting Thursday 13th December 2012
Join Matt Sutherland of Dog Point Vineyard in Marlborough, New Zealand, as he shows off a superlative selection of their wines this evening.

Dog Point was established by Matt’s father Ivan and his friend James Healy, respectively the former chief viticulturalist and head winemaker at the iconic Cloudy Bay. After leaving Cloudy Bay, Ivan and James began making wines from Sutherland's own vineyards, which were planted in the 70's and 80's. Additional fruit is sourced from selected vineyard plantings dating back to the late 1970's. Grapes are all hand-picked, and, with the exception of the stainless steel made Sauvignon, all wines are given extended barrel ageing with minimal racking and handling. A non-interventionist, natural, hands-off technique characterises all their wines.

The evening will begin with their quirkily named sparkling wine, ‘Two Shady Dogs’, before Matt guides you through a selection of reds and whites, showcasing two vintages of each style for the chance to see how well these wines mature. Don’t miss out on this chance to experience a sensational range of wines from one of New Zealand’s most original producers.
