If, and when, the authorities get round to identifying Grand Cru vineyards in the Langhe, Castiglione Falletto’s Rocche dei Rivera site would surely be set for recognition. Clinging somehow to a near vertical south-east facing slope tucked under the Castello itself, Rocche dei Rivera, is the epitome of Castiglione finezza (finesse). The nose is scented with ethereal notes of super-ripe strawberries, tealeaves and sapid oak.

The palate displays a heavenly roll, it swoons with red berried fruit in a way that Monprivato can and does. It exudes the energy of the morning sun and the class of the Castiglione soils.
