Made by Davide’s late cousin Tommaso Canale, but bottled by Giovanni Rosso, this has all the qualities one associates with Barolo’s great Crus. A product of south to south-west facing vines that were planted in 1946 on a radiating white soil with specks of sand and blue marne, Vigna Rionda is all about the sensational ripeness of fruit matched by scintillating acidity, the qualities you would expect from the likes of old-vine Chambolle-Musigny.
