One Day Wine School
Our one-day wine schools are a great way to get a thorough overview of a region in a day.
Starting in the morning with tea and coffee on arrival, we spend around 2 hours exploring the region, with 8-12 wines showcasing all different styles. With the basics covered, we head to our vaulted Napoleon cellar for an aperitif and to put the morning’s education to the test with 5 more wines paired over a delicious lunch, crafted by Head Chef Stewart Turner.
The day finishes around 3.30pm.

Description
Berrys’ Welcome and Morning Session: 10.45am for 11.00am to 12.30pm
Napoleon Cellar Food & Wine Matching Luncheon: 12.30pm to 1.30pm
Afternoon Session: 1.30pm-3.30pm
Today’s One-Day Introductory Wine School will be conducted by Anne McHale, who is thoroughly passionate about helping you taste, learn and understand the key elements of wine. The day is a chance for you to join a small group (limited to 20) of like-minded Berrys’ customers to learn about the classic grape varieties and the components of wine through a line-up of really top notch examples - and that’s just the morning! Your well-earned Napoleon Cellar Luncheon, elegantly designed especially for you by our highly talented head chef Stewart Turner, will be time instructively spent on exploring food and wine matching.
After lunch we will gently re-adjourn to the Pickering Cellar where you can apply your morning of learning during a fascinating session on beguiling white and red Burgundy, followed by an introduction to top red Bordeaux and the chance to try it with some magnificent cheese. Our pièce de résistance will be a tasting and explanation of the most fabulous sweet wine in the world, Ch. d’Yquem, also from Bordeaux. This exotic finish to the day will be matched with a divine sweet creation by our Head Chef to dazzle your tastebuds.
Our aim is that the day should be friendly and fun yet informative, building up your confidence so that you can understand which styles of wine you like best and why. You will leave the day fresh with ideas of how you are going to get maximum enjoyment from the wonderful world of wine from this point onwards.
