Lagavulin 12-Year-Old, Islay, Single Malt Whisky, (Btd 2012)

This limited release of 12 year old is, I believe, a direct result of taking some casks of the regular Lagavulin and poking them with a stick until they become enraged! This is a furious onslaught of scorched earth, peat, sea-spray and iodine with a touch a balancing sweetness from oak. Some touches of lemon and lime appear with a dash of water, along with the freshest of oysters, but I’d drink it undiluted to show it at its venomous, vehement best.
