The limited release of 3,816 bottles for this 1985 vintage of Singleton has been aged for 28 years, all spent in refill American oak. This was bottled as part of the Diageo's annual Special Releases for 2013 and is a fantastic example of what age can do to this quiet Speyside dram. On the palate it is oily and sweet overlaid with oranges, raisins and honey flavours. Then some mint, liquorice and nutmeg comes forward, as well as beeswax and malty notes.
The Singleton series combines whiskies from three of Diageo’s biggest distilleries: Dufftown, Glendullan and Glen Ord.
