Description

Hosted by Barbara Drew, Wine School

To celebrate the festive season Barbara is hosting a dinner focusing on the three Kings of the red wine world; Burgundy, Rioja and Claret. Our two Burgundies come from the Golden slopes of the Cote d’Or and are definitely fit for kings, coming from Gevrey-Chambertin and Vosne-Romanée. We’ll then drink in the delicate fragrance of two very different Riojas: a beautifully aged example from La Rioja Alta, with a much younger and more modern style from Allende. With the cheese course, we’ll explore two top Clarets before ending with a luscious dessert and the elegant and regal Ch. Climens.

Wines to be tasted include:

2008 Cava Gramona, Brut Nature, Gran Reserva
2005 Vosne-Romanée, La Croix Rameau, 1er Cru, Domaine Jacques Cacheux et Fils
2005 Chambertin, Clos de Beze, Grand Cru, Domaine Chanson
1995 890 Gran Reserva, La Rioja Alta, Rioja
2005 Aurus, Finca Allende, Rioja
1997 Clos L'Eglise, Pomerol
1997 Gruaud-Larose, 2ème Cru Classé, St Julien
2009 Ch. Climens, 1er Cru Classé, Barsac

N.B. Wines for this event have been chosen from Berry Bros. & Rudd’s historic stocks and may not be available to order following the event
