Description

Hosted by Catherine Owen, Fine Wine Specialist

Join Catherine Owen to explore the distinctive character of the Syrah grape, both on its own and in classic blends. This evening we will taste a range of wines selected not only to show the variety of styles made from 100% Syrah in the northern and southern hemispheres, but also how the distinctive characteristics of the grape come through in classic – and creative – blends from the Rhône, southern France, Portugal and Australia. This should be a real treat for dedicated fans of the Syrah grape, and an opportunity for others to discover some new favourites.

Wines to be tasted include:

Berrys' Crémant de Limoux, Antech-Limoux
2011 St Joseph, Domaine Emmanuel Darnaud
2011 Crozes-Hermitage, Les Trois Chênes, Domaine Emmanuel Darnaud
2011 Côte-Rôtie, Cuvée Classique 'Ampodium', Domaine René Rostaing
2010 Domaine d'Aupilhac, La Boda, Coteaux du Languedoc
2009 Penfolds St Henri Shiraz
2009 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Shiraz
2009 Domaine Puech Noble Rouge, René Rostaing, Coteaux de Languedoc
2009 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Les Hautes Brusquières, Domaine Charbonnière
2007 Tapanappa Wines, Wrattonbully Cabernet Shiraz, South Australia
2007 Hermitage Rouge, Domaine du Colombier
