Description

Michel Ogier is a relative newcomer to the top ranks of the wine-making world: up until 1980 he sold his entire crop, on the vine, to Messrs Chapoutier and Guigal. Since then, he has invested an enormous amount of time and capital in his well-situated two-and-a-half hectare vineyard and has now handed it over to his ambitious and likeable son, Stèphane, our special guest for this evening. The wines themselves are not the huge, structured beasts typical of some other Côte-Rôtie producers. They tend more towards a silky elegance with soft, subtle tannins. However, they retain that incredible ability to age that is synonymous with the best Côt- Rôtie.

Wines to be tasted include:

Berrys' United Kingdom Cuvée, Grand Cru, Mailly
2011 La Rosine Syrah, Vin de Pays, Domaine Stéphane Ogier
2011 Côtes du Rhône Villages, Plan de Dieu, Le Temps Est Venu, Dom Ogier
2009 L'Âme Soeur Seyssuel, Vin de Pays, Domaine Michel et Stéphane Ogier
2009 Condrieu, La Combe de Malleval, Domaine Michel et Stéphane Ogier
2008 Côte-Rôtie, Domaine Michel et Stéphane Ogier
2008 Condrieu, Domaine Michel et Stéphane Ogier
2007 L'Âme Soeur Seyssuel, Vin de Pays, Domaine Michel et Stéphane Ogier
2007 Condrieu, Domaine Michel et Stephane Ogier
