Description

Just as you can learn much from a restaurant’s house wine, you should also be able to judge a wine merchant by its own-label bottles, and we wouldn't put our name to anything which wasn't delicious to drink. Our range of Highly Dependable wines is just that: a marque that stands for reliable good value and taste. After extensive tasting and blending with winemaker Jean-Luc Terrier, our distinctly up-market Reserve range is carefully crafted to demonstrate the marvellous terroir of some of the Languedoc’s finest hillside vineyards.

The Reserve White is dominated by Chardonnay, although Sauvignon Blanc, Mauzac and Vermentino are minor yet significant shareholders. Fresh, light and moreishly drinkable, this white is perfect for an apéritif or alongside lighter dishes.

Victoria Moore
Very useful fridge-door all-rounder specially blended for Berry Bros. & Rudd. Chardonnay provides the canvas here, while vermentino, mauzac and sauvignon blanc bring glimmers of fresh herbs and the tang of green apples and sharp lemon rind to the mix.

Berry Bros. & Rudd have worked hard to source their recently launched 'Reserve' wines, working with excellent winemaker Jean-Luc Terrier in the Languedoc. This Pays d'Oc white is dominated by Chardonnay, with the addition of Sauvignon Blanc and the local duo Mauzac and Vermentino. It has an engagingly fresh yet fruity nose, the zest of lemons and the juiciness of fresh pear and apple, just hints of a herbaceous leafiness well into the background. In the mouth it is cool, well-tempered with only 13% alcohol, and yet has a substantial weight of ripe fruit and texture. Zippy, long and very attractive wine at an everyday price.

About this WINE

J L Terrier & C Collovray

J L Terrier & C Collovray

Jean-Luc Terrier and Christian Collvray were recently hailed as Burgundy's Winemakers of the Year by the renowned Gault-Millau guide and are better known for their exemplary White Burgundies from Domaine Des Deux Roches. In recent years, however, this quality-conscious duo have been producing an outstanding range of wines from 30-year-old vines on slopes 500 metres above sea level south of Limoux in the Languedoc region.

The combination of quality, varietal definition and value persuaded us to take the important step of working with them to produce three of our House wines.
