Description

Champagne is the archetypal sparkling wine region of the world, but the individual villages which add different notes to the composition of these great wines are relatively unknown. Our stroll through the villages of Champagne will start with a Dizy apéritif from Gaston Chiquet then a selection of blanc de blancs (Chardonnay): delicate minerality from Guy Larmandier in Cramant, steely minerality from Mesnil and aged gravitas courtesy of 1990 Legras in Chouilly. Pinot Noir shows its myriad styles from rich Bouzy to magisterial Mailly, ending in grand Billecart style in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ.

Wines to be tasted:

2005 Champagne Bara, Brut, Grand Cru
2004 Champagne Mailly, Les Echansons, Grand Cru
Champagne Roses de Jeanne, Cote de Bechalin, Cédric Bouchard
Champagne Gaston Chiquet, Tradition Brut, Premier Cru
