Description

‘Shiraz’ may be just Australia’s name for the Syrah grape, but the two words seem to send different messages to consumers about what to expect in the glass. Are there really two distinct styles or is it just semantics? And what about other New World producers that call the grape ‘Syrah’ – should we expect it to taste more like Australian ‘Shiraz’ or more like the classic Syrah of the Northern Rhône? Join Catherine Owen to sample a range of wines from the New and Old Worlds and judge for yourself.
