Description

Join our resident thespian and fine wine specialist Steffan Griffiths in the Long Room this evening as he treats you to a special short story reading of a tale called ‘Taste’ by Roald Dahl and a fabulous vertical tasting, over dinner, of Clarets from St Julien property Ch. Branaire-Ducru. For those of you unfamiliar with the story, ‘Taste’ is about two connoisseurs of fine wine who have a bet at a dinner party over identifying a superb wine, which happens to be a Branaire-Ducru. Dahl was a real connoisseur of Claret himself, and his knowledge is evident in his lyrical descriptions. Steffan will read his words beautifully for you tonight, building up to the twist in the tale, before you sit down for dinner and put Dahl’s words to the test yourself. This promises to be a unique and very special evening.

Wines to be tasted:

Berrys’ United Kingdom Cuvée, Grand Cru, Champagne Mailly
1986 Erdener Treppchen, Riesling Spätlese, Schwaab-Kiebel, Mosel
