About this WINE
Vinyes dels Aspres
Cantallops is the most northern village in the D.O. of Empordà, itself the most northerly of the Catalan wine regions. The vines undulate within the foothills of the Pyrenees and the wine-making at Vinyes dels Aspres is traditional and allows the distinctive sandy slate soils to express their personality with great dignity.
Other Varieties
There are over 200 different grape varieties used in modern wine making (from a total of over 1000). Most lesser known blends and varieties are traditional to specific parts of the world.

Description
This complex blend is made up of Cabernet Sauvignon (39%), Cariñena (23%), Garnatxa (Garnacha) and Merlot (both 16%) and finally Syrah (6%). The assemblage has been aged for 14 months in wood from the north of France. An intriguing nose of black tea, scorched earth and plum is followed by a richly ornate palate, with cool primary fruit and hints of aniseed and cocoa on the finish.
