Description

Tweeddale produces award winning small batch, limited edition blends drawn from nine single casks*; an aged single grain whisky and eight individually selected aged single malt whiskies, with a high malt content (50% grain, 50% malt). The whiskies are not been chill filtered and are bottled at 46% alcohol by volume. This ensures a complex, full bodied and full flavoured whisky with pronounced sweet, sherry notes. The Lowland malt is 14 years, matured in an Islay cask.

Natural Colour – pale gold.
Nose –  Spiced milk chocolate, vanilla galore, sugared nuts and fresh lemon curd. All engulfed by sweet malty cereal goodness and baked apple, and a wee hint of smoke.
Palate – Oily and lovely mouth feel. Quite spicy with pepper and ginger than getting more dark chocolate, cloves, touch of bitter expresso and candied almonds.
Finish – Warming. Sweet sultana coated with dark chocolate praline. Drying and medium to Long.

A new name but a well put together blend that's worth a punt.

Dave Broom - Whisky Magazine Issue 89 Nose
Light smoke. Orange drop. Floral. Quite delicate.
Palate
Round. Citrus. Sweet maltiness balanced by dry spices. With water, biscuity flavours. Vanilla wafer. A grainy touch.
Finish
Dry. Liquorice root.
Comment
A well knitted whisky. Smoky and fruity with a distinctive freshness on the palate. The alcohol is well mastered.

About this SPIRIT

Tweeddale Whisky Distillery

Tweeddale Whisky Distillery

In 1820, J&A Davidson Brewers and Whiskey Blenders was established in Coldstream, along the Scottish borders. Here, the Tweeddale whiskey was born.

A boy by the name of Richard Day joined J&A Davidson as an office boy, and here he learnt the art of whiskey blending. He recorded his learnings in his ‘Cellar Book’.

In 1923, Richard took over the business and produced whiskey up until the Second World War, after which the whiskey stock gradually sold out completely.

Richard’s great grandson inherited the cellar book in 2009, and created Stonedean Limited and followed in his great grandfather’s footsteps to reproduce the Tweedale. In 2010, the first batch was produced 70 years on, and is still selling today.
