Description

Guy Davies will tonight explain the different wines of Bordeaux, with particular reference to those from the Left and Right Banks of the river. First of all he will be there to welcome you in the Green Room for a cosy apéritif of bubbles and clinking flutes. He will then lead you up to the Long Room and preside over the proceedings of dinner, signalling the nuances to expect in each set of wines before each course. His key theme will be to compare five stunning red wines, two of which hail from the famous communes of Pomerol and St. Emilion on the Right Bank of the river in Bordeaux, and three classics representing the famous Pessac-Léognan, St. Estèphe and Margaux on the Left Bank. Also featuring as part of the comparison will be two interesting vintages: 2007 and 1999. The evening will conclude with a sweet note and a delicious dessert.

Wines to be tasted:
2010 Ch. Brown Blanc, Pessac-Léognan
2007 Ch. Trottevieille, St Emilion
2007 Ch. Haut-Bailly, Pessac-Léognan
1999 Ch. Ormes de Pez, St Estèphe
1999 Ch. l'Evangile, Pomerol
1999 Ch. Giscours, Margaux
1989 Ch. Suduiraut, Sauternes
