Description

Only a handful of Burgundy’s vineyards were granted the coveted ‘Grand Cru’ classification when the hierarchy was formalised in the 1930s. Yet there are many vineyards at Premier Cru level which, it might be argued, are worthy of the status or are certainly very close. Anne McHale MW has selected her favourites for you this evening in a special line-up which includes such star terroirs as Meursault’s Perrières, Vougeot’s Clos Blanc, Vosne’s Les Suchots and of course Gevrey’s Clos St Jacques. Join her in the Pickering Cellar to learn about and enjoy tasting these unique wines.

Wines to be tasted:

2011 Puligny-Montrachet, Les Folatieres, 1er Cru, Domaine Henri Boillot
2011 Puligny-Montrachet, Les Combettes, 1er Cru, Domaine Henri Boillot
2011 Chassagne-Montrachet, Les Blanchots Dessus, 1er cru, Jean-Noël Gagnard
2010 Meursault, Les Perrières, 1er Cru Ch. de Puligny-Montrachet
2010 Clos Blanc de Vougeot, 1er Cru, Domaine de la Vougeraie
2009 Vosne-Romanée, Les Suchots, 1er Cru, Bouchard Père et Fils
2009 Pommard, Les Rugiens, 1er Cru, Henri Boillot
2008 Nuits-St Georges, Les St Georges, 1er Cru, Thibault Liger-Belair
1999 Gevrey-Chambertin, Clos St. Jacques Domaine Armand Rousseau
