The Diversity & Finest Wines of Rioja, Tasting, Monday 30 Nov 2015

This year Simon Field MW, our buyer for Spain, was invested into the Gran Orden de Caballeros del Vino for his work with Spanish wine in the UK at Berry Bros. & Rudd. This was a huge honour, and to celebrate he has chosen Rioja for his subject this autumn in the Wine School programme. Simon will talk in detail about the elevation, aspect, soil, temperature and climate of the three sub-regions of Rioja (Alavesa, Baja and Alta). He will discuss how the grapes are influenced by these factors and how the wines express them, looking also at winemaking styles from traditional through to modern. Finally, he will help you consider your favourites and pick out the reasons why. If you wish to understand Rioja and its beguiling and original wines in more detail then tonight is perfect for you.
