Description

Release your inner Snow Queen. Join the sweet-wine-loving Anne McHale MW this evening as she guides you through an exciting range of ice wines from locations as diverse as Germany, Canada, Moldova and even China. You will learn about the unique conditions that are necessary to make wine from frozen grapes, explore the purity and balance of these wines in the glass, and will also have the chance to compare the ice wine style with a sweet wine made in a different method: the one and only Ch. d’Yquem from Sauternes. There will even be an ice cider in the line-up to show that grapes are not the only fruit capable of producing this distinctive style.

Wines to be tasted:

2012 Domaine de Grand Pré Vidal Ice Wine, Nova Scotia
2011 Ice-Wine, Purcari, Purcari Estate, Moldova
2009 Oberhäuser Brücke, Eiswein, Dönnhoff, Nahe
2009 Changyu Golden Valley Ice Wine, Gold Diamond Label, Liaoning
2009 Changyu Golden Valley Ice Wine, Blue Diamond Label, Liaoning
2002 Erdener Treppchen, Riesling Eiswein Dr Loosen, Mosel
1995 Ch. d'Yquem, Sauternes
Domaine de Grand Pré Pomme d'Or Ice Cider, Nova Scotia

N.B. Wines for this event have been chosen from Berry Bros. & Rudd historic stocks and may not be available to order following the event
