Berrys' United Kingdom Cuvée, Grand Cru, Mailly

Berrys' United Kingdom Cuvee, Grand Cru, Mailly
Sourced from the prestigious Grand Cru village of Mailly, located at the heart of the Montagne de Reims, and benefiting from over three years ageing, our UKC Cuvée is a classic blend of 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay.

All the hallmarks of Grand Cru are here, with brioche and flowers on the nose and an elegant palate which marries notes of lemon grass, gingerbread and honeysuckle. The wine effortlessly combines structure and finesse and reverberates with a really authoritative Grand Cru crescendo on the finish.

Berrys' United Kingdom Cuvee, Grand Cru, Mailly
Made from 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay, this stunning Grand Cru Champagne contains reserve wine that has been aged in barrels from Ch. Margaux. Aged for four years this is powerful and elegant, rich yet poised and displays aromas of gingerbread, lemongrass and honeysuckle. Grand Cru quality fruit is particularly evident on the long and authoritative finish and this is a superb example of the traditional UKC style.

Berrys' United Kingdom Cuvee, Grand Cru, Mailly
You know in some ways this is my 'pick of the bunch'. It's a Champagne that has always been a value for money favourite, but this bottle was just enchanting, made entirely with grapes from the Grand Cru vineyards of Mailly, and with plenty of reserve wines adding depth to the blend, especially those aged in ex-Château Margaux barrels.

Miniscule bubbles stream through the rich golden wine, and the nose combines fresh-baked biscuit warmth with saltiness and fat, generous lemony fruit. On the palate the cushion of mousse is sweet and soft, the fruit depth and complexity surprising with nectarine and tangerine fruity brilliance, and that long, long and refined mineral finish. A seriously good little Champagne this and looks very classy too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Well worth a look. A very pleasant alternative to the established big brand names, yet carries kudois for those in the know. Nice tight bubbles and a slight vanilla finish- lovely 18 June 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good value for money Balanced with some refreshing red fruit flavours as well 18 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic Value This easily beats most, if not all the Grand Marques NV that I've tried. Its also quite a lot cheaper, only more expensive than basic supermarket own-label Champagnes, which also lose out to this very nice Grand Cru. Lots of yeasty complexity, nice creamy mouthfeel and mousse. Recommend as a house Champagne and for all sorts of celebratory occasions. 16 June 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 Excellent Fine bubbles, delicious spongecake with subtle notes of lemon and a long finish. Highly recommend this Champagne blend. 12 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by My favourite NV champagne We buy this in half bottles, bottles and magnums and it's our favourite NV champagne. Also very good value 03 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Marvellous quality for the money ! The recently purchased magnums made our Grand National party go "with a bang" and all present agreed that this champagne was hugely quaffable and delicious. 16 April 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very good "all day" champagne I thought of the Duke of Omnium in Trollope's Palliser novels, because this is a champagne he could happily have drunk at or after breakfast, at noontime or in late afternoon or evening. 08 April 2014
