Berrys' United Kingdom Cuvée, Grand Cru, Mailly

Berrys' United Kingdom Cuvee, Grand Cru, Mailly
Sourced from the prestigious Grand Cru village of Mailly, located at the heart of the Montagne de Reims, and benefiting from over three years ageing, our UKC Cuvée is a classic blend of 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay.

All the hallmarks of Grand Cru are here, with brioche and flowers on the nose and an elegant palate which marries notes of lemon grass, gingerbread and honeysuckle. The wine effortlessly combines structure and finesse and reverberates with a really authoritative Grand Cru crescendo on the finish.

Berrys' United Kingdom Cuvee, Grand Cru, Mailly
Made from 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay, this stunning Grand Cru Champagne contains reserve wine that has been aged in barrels from Ch. Margaux. Aged for four years this is powerful and elegant, rich yet poised and displays aromas of gingerbread, lemongrass and honeysuckle. Grand Cru quality fruit is particularly evident on the long and authoritative finish and this is a superb example of the traditional UKC style.

Berrys' United Kingdom Cuvee, Grand Cru, Mailly
You know in some ways this is my 'pick of the bunch'. It's a Champagne that has always been a value for money favourite, but this bottle was just enchanting, made entirely with grapes from the Grand Cru vineyards of Mailly, and with plenty of reserve wines adding depth to the blend, especially those aged in ex-Château Margaux barrels.

Miniscule bubbles stream through the rich golden wine, and the nose combines fresh-baked biscuit warmth with saltiness and fat, generous lemony fruit. On the palate the cushion of mousse is sweet and soft, the fruit depth and complexity surprising with nectarine and tangerine fruity brilliance, and that long, long and refined mineral finish. A seriously good little Champagne this and looks very classy too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Smooth This is an excellent Champagne and great value for money. It is very smooth to the palate, great accompaniment with aperitifs or just on its own for every day occasions. A must to have for unexpected guests. 16 June 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Crisp, refreshing and sophisticated: a splendid, drinking Champagne Trying to find a decent Champagne without spending a bundle can be challenging. Look no further. Berry's house champagne provides a tasty, crisp, eminently drinkable champagne at a price that means you can open a bottle without worrying about whether the event 'justifies' the luxury. The wine itself is very fresh, and very drinkable with clean notes and none of the metallic tang that one can find at the affordable end of the market. This is a wine that punches above its weight, and brings elegance and sophistication to any event - even if that event is simply a tuesday night in the kitchen at home! 09 February 2015

Rated 4 out of 5 by A perfect mid-quality champagne that will never disappoint For those of us who like to drink champagne regularly, as opposed to those who regard it as something for special occasions, there is nothing better than the Berry Bros UK Cuvee. It has depth underpinning its sparkle, and although if it is kept for a year or so it will undoubtedly improve, those who buy to drink will find it an utterly reliable delight, even before it forms any acquaintance with the cellar. As a family champagne, to be drunk frequently, with or without guests, I can't recommend it too strongly. 14 January 2015
