Description

The Northern Rhône may only contribute five percent of the production of the eponymous valley, but, in terms of vinous reputation, it’s a fairly staggering five percent, with big names such as Condrieu, Hermitage and Côte-Rôtie all vying for attention, while the appellations of St Joseph, Cornas and Crozes-Hermitage are almost as well known. On the subject of big guns, the ordnance could scarcely be more impressive than the names lined up for this outstanding dinner: Chave, Vernay, Gangloff and Sorrel, to name but a few. And as Rhône wines demand a decadent dinner, Chef Stuart Turner will ensure we are in for a treat.

Wines to be tasted:
2005 Champagne Bonnaire, Blanc de Blancs, Grand Cru
2012 Hermitage Blanc, Les Rocoules, Domaine Marc Sorrel
2012 Condrieu, Chaillées de l'Enfer, Domaine Georges Vernay
2011 St Joseph Rouge, Domaine Yves Gangloff
2011 Hermitage Rouge, Domaine Jean-Louis Chave
2010 Crozes-Hermitage, Les Grives, Domaine Laurent Combier
2010 Cornas, Domaine du Tunnel
2009 Côte-Rôtie, La Landonne, Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin

Hosted by Simon Field MW, Wine Buyer

Napoleon Cellar Dinners

Napoleon Cellar Dinners

Join us at one of our popular Napoleon Cellar Dinners for a memorable evening of fine wine, fine cuisine and fine companyTucked away beneath our shop in the heart of central London, the cellars were once the largest working cellars in the capital. In 1999 they were converted to create London's most exclusive fine dining venue.

The impressive vaulted Napoleon Cellar (view virtual tour here) was so named after Napoleon III, who plotted his return to France here whilst in exile in England between 1838 and 1848.

Arrive at 6.30pm to a welcoming Champagne aperitif in our historic shop, before descending to the imposing Napoleon Cellar for a sumptuous four-course dinner and a myriad of fabulous wines. Throughout the evening your host and the wine estate’s representative will talk to you about the wines, sharing their knowledge and views, and helping you decide which you like best and why.

4 tickets maximum per customer (subject to availability)
