Description

Celebrate Sauvignon Blancs as we attempt to uncover the characteristic flavours and aromas that indicate where different examples are produced. We will have classic examples from South Africa, New Zealand and Chile, which will be followed by a comparison of Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé and Reuilly from the Loire. Following this we will have three examples of wines which contain Sauvignon Blanc in their blends before finally seeing if we can tell a Sauvignon Blanc from a Chablis and a Riesling. For an interesting diversion, we will taste a red – Cabernet Sauvignon – which has Sauvignon Blanc in its DNA, before rounding off the evening with a mature Sauternes which contains a percentage of Sauvignon Blanc.
