Description

Simon Field MW, our Champagne Buyer, has been responsible for introducing nearly 20 Grower Champagnes to our list over the last few years, reflecting the increasing self-confidence of this category and, of course, its burgeoning quality. The Grandes Marques have not, needless to say, rested on their laurels and the result has been a real renaissance in the region. Simon’s only problem, or so he tells us, has been to curtail his enthusiasm in selecting the wines. He has settled, reluctantly, on six pairs to slug it out. It’ll be entertaining and informative – of that there is no doubt.

Wines to be tasted in pairs:
Champagne Bollinger, Special Cuvée, Brut
Champagne Alfred Gratien, Brut

Champagne Billecart-Salmon, Blanc de Blancs, Grand Cru
Champagne R&L Legras, Blanc de Blancs

Champagne Ruinart, Rosé, Brut
Champagne de Sousa, Cuvée de Caudalies Rosé, Grand Cru

Champagne Louis Roederer, Brut Premier
Champagne René Geoffroy, Expression Brut, Premier Cru

Champagne Krug, Grande Cuvée
Champagne Eric Rodez, Blanc de Noirs

1998 Champagne Mailly, Grand Cru, Magnum Collection
1998 Champagne Gosset, Celebris, Brut

Hosted by Simon Field MW, Wine Buyer

N.B. Wines for this event have been chosen from Berry Bros. & Rudd historic stocks and may not be available to order
