Description

A Merlot dominant blend , with Grenache, Syrah and Carignan, in that order, taking the supporting roles. Fruity with a plummy elegance and soft but eloquent tannins, this is an early-drinking wine, its nose characterised by notes of hedgerow fruit, warming and welcoming and coaxing the drinker to the finely rounded  palate where fruit and spice are entwined and the finish is surprisingly long.

Jean Luc Terrier is one of the most gifted winemakers in France. He has made his name at the acclaimed Domaine des Deux Roches in Burgundy and is now forging a similar reputation for his range of Languedoc wines, farmed high in the foothills of Limoux around the scenic village of Antugnac.

One of my annual buying highlights is the morning spent blending the three wines that make up our everyday wine drinking range, an exercise which requires not only tasting acumen, but no little mathematical aptitude as with each wine we narrow down the large selection of samples into an assemblage which will  accurately reflect our mutual stylistic aspirations for the vintage in question. The result is a family of wines of which we are very proud.

About this WINE

J L Terrier & C Collovray

J L Terrier & C Collovray

Jean-Luc Terrier and Christian Collvray were recently hailed as Burgundy's Winemakers of the Year by the renowned Gault-Millau guide and are better known for their exemplary White Burgundies from Domaine Des Deux Roches. In recent years, however, this quality-conscious duo have been producing an outstanding range of wines from 30-year-old vines on slopes 500 metres above sea level south of Limoux in the Languedoc region.

The combination of quality, varietal definition and value persuaded us to take the important step of working with them to produce three of our House wines.
