Description

The use of oak in Champagne is controversial , which for some just ruins a good glass of bubbly.  However, purists would argue that oak existed before stainless steel, and therefore traditional.  This evening explores why and how oak is used and what affect this has on champagne.   To help you decide on which side of the oak-fence you sit, our Champagne Specialist will guide you through a selection of oaked and unoaked champagnes from a range of producers both artisan and grande marque, including Cedric Bouchard, Alfred Gratien & Billecart-Salmon, the magisterial Krug, and finishing with the rarely released and sublime Salon and Selosse, arguably the first superstar artisan producer. Hosted by Edwin Dublin, Champagne Specialist
