2008 Quinta do Vesuvio

The Vesuvio 2008 is not dissimilar to the 2007; indeed both could have been fully declared vintages and both had similar weather patterns including a late harvest after a relatively mild August. As always the grapes were trodden in 8 granite lagares, the pipe and the drum holding rhythmic discipline until the chaotic final hour or so when the guest treaders ( including this year a BBR team) initiate chaos.

2008 differs a little from its forebears in that it has a higher percent than usual of Touriga Nacional, 70 % in this instance. This underwrites the benchmark nose of violets and macerated prunes, bay and crushed blackberry. Rich, rounded and silky, this is a classic Vesuvio and will keep very well.
