2009 Quoin Rock, Sauvignon Blanc Cape Agulhas, South Africa

Quoin Rock, Sauvignon Blanc Cape Agulhas, South Africa
A good ripening season led to healthy fruit with good levels of acidity for the 2009 Cape Agulhas Sauvignon Blanc. After being hand-harvested the grapes are chilled to 5˚C before being rigorously sorted and are then macerated for 3 hours in the press. After actual pressing fermentation takes place in 80% stainless steel tanks and 20% French oak barrels, not new. The wine is aged on lees for 6 months before bottling.

A grassy, gooseberry-and-elderflower bouquet with hints of nettle and blackcurrant; full on the palate, with great purity, freshness and texture. Fine balancing acidity. One of the best examples of this varietal to be found in S. Africa.
