Talk about trying to get blood out of a stone! Ever since tasting this rich minerally white pearl of a wine years ago my friends had clung onto it like a newborn child. Finally I managed to persuade them that Berrys would look after and find it a good home.

For me it captures the light, sandstone and calc soils that characterise the Appenine foothills overlooking Lucca. A sinewy blend of mainly Vermentino, Trebbiano and Chardonnay to drink now as the sun sets, alongside a plate of fava beans dressed with olive oil and pecorino, over the next few years...
