2009 Tres Olmos Classic, Bodegas Garciarevalo, Rueda

Tres Olmos Classic, Bodegas Garciarevalo, Rueda
Rueda has had a long relationship with the temperamental Verdejo grape, outdating by some distance these centurian vines. A fascinating and complex variety, Verdejo has historically had an awkward tendency to oxidise and lose its aromatic charm.

Only with the new generation of producers, of whom Antonio is a worthy ambassador, has its full potential been realised. This has been achieved by harnessing stainless steel technology and bottling the wines as early as possible. As a result, freshness is preserved and the inherent complexity in the wine is not jeopardised.
(Simon Field MW, BBR Buyer)Bodegas Garciarevalo

In the town Matapozuelos in the heart of Rueda, high in the rugged landscape of north-east Spain, Antonio Arévalo specializes in Verdejo.Amazingly he has 40 hectares of vines that are over 100 years old, including some that are up to 130 years old. The resulting lime-scented, energetic wine is assertively individual, yet agreeably bright and refreshing. This is the perfect option for a lazy al fresco lunch with friends and would be equally good as an aperitif all year round.
