Scion is a very old and rare port from the age before phylloxera. For over fifteen decades, Scion was the valued possession of an eminent Douro Valley family and lay quietly maturing in their cellars. Taylor's discovered the wine in 2008, and in January 2010 purchased two pipes from the family which they moved to their lodges in Oporto. An extraordinary wine and perhaps one the likes of which will never be seen again.

Enveloping cascades of the Douro bake and the unctuous fruit of yore. Often side slipping ‘twixt each other, but always supremely balanced and a deep draught of a drink. Its everlasting fruitiness is a stunning testament to the Douro family who tended it spanning three centuries and to Taylor’s skill in bringing it to market in such impeccable condition. Scion must rank as one of the greatest of old wines.
