2009 Vinsobres, Les Cornuds, Perrin et Fils

Vinsobres, Les Cornuds, Perrin et Fils
Rhône 2009 - Berrys Recommends
Vinsobres is one of the more northern named Cote du Rhone villages and Perrin’s terraced vineyards lie at an altitude of 250 metres above sea level, meaning a cooler climate that suits Syrah which, unusually for Cote du Rhone, dominates the blend. Les Cornuds bridges the gap between the northern elegant, fresh and peppery Syrah with the ripe fleshy notes of southern Grenache. Lots of ripe cherry fruit with hints of pepper and a fine structure make this one of the best value buys in the Rhone.
(Sara Guiducci, BBR Fine Wine)

These are exciting times for Vinsobres. The higher location of the vines, allied to differing percentages of varietals in the blend, allows this newly-promoted village to show a point of difference from the warmer Grenache cuvées of the region. Les Cornuds is a fine example; lively acidity, a crushed rock and blackberry profile and Syrah pepper mark this out as an outstanding example.
