2010 Chono Sauvignon Blanc, Casablanca Valley

Chono Sauvignon Blanc, Casablanca Valley
Chono Sauvignon Blanc comes from the Tapihue enclave of the Casablanca Valley, ideally located 25 km from the Pacific Ocean and farmed on infertile soils which are dominated by clay and sand , with quartz-stone visible too. Casablanca has long been viewed as the premium source of fine Sauvignon Blanc in South America and this example shows us why this is the case.

Hand-picked from low-yielding vines, these grapes were fermented a low temperatures, thereafter the must was stirred on its lees for two months to add body and structure, providing the perfect counterpoint to the aromatic intensity of the attack and the firm, crisp acidity in the mouth.. A classic nose of grapefruit, bell pepper and quince tempts to a finely-honed palate where notes of the tropical add complexity to the citric core. Notes of kiwi cede to a gentle herbal finish which is refreshing and long. This wine is ideal as an aperitif, with summer fare and seafood.
