The Purple Rose of Gaillard is almost as rare as the purple rose of Cairo; Pierre will only make it when the conditions in the old Rozier vineyards are perfect. 2009 is such a year. Made from 100% Syrah, it is tight, robust and somewhat unforgiving at first blush, then, almost ironically, the fruit emerges and lifts.
