2009 Clos de la Roche, Grand Cru, Olivier Bernstein

Clos de la Roche, Grand Cru, Olivier Bernstein
Rich inky purple belies the finesse which is soon apparent in the mouth. Very beautiful and extremely long, with tingling minerals underneath the coating of velvet. This is always the most elegant of the Bernstein grands crus.

Clos de la Roche, Grand Cru, Olivier Bernstein
A ripe but not over ripe nose displays plum, floral, earth and a subtle sauvage character that gives way to very rich and textured flavors that possess real verve and punch on the textured, mouth coating and strikingly long finish. Like any number of wines in the range, there is a touch of mocha that surfaces on the finish but this is tighter and more focused with buried tannins that will require considerable patience to completely resolve.

Clos de la Roche, Grand Cru, Olivier Bernstein
Dark purplish crimson. Firm with an overlay of Morey energy as well as their trademark density. Very sweet and polished. Long-term stuff with enough acidity. Very well constituted. This was the first wine to finish its malo, so is perhaps showing better than the rest for the moment.
