2007 Barbaresco, Manuel Marinacci, San Rocco Seno d'Elvio

Barbaresco, Manuel Marinacci, San Rocco Seno d'Elvio

You’ve probably never heard of him or of his village, San Rocco Seno d’Elvio, but one sip of his wine suggests he understands the fresh, delicate pleasure that straightforward Barbaresco can & should bring. His 2007 vintage is as bright as those fresh September nights prior to harvest, along with pinpoint cherry & strawberry scent created by the warm summer. Similarly the palate is charming and elegant; no concentrators, rotofermentors or barriques here, just wine made in a time-honoured fashion.

There’s a welcome softness, suaveness, along with a hint of leather to keep your feet on the ground. The use of slavonian oak botte contributing savoury notes of chicory and coffee bean. And it wears its alcohol oh so lightly, making it a delicious drink now & over the next 10 years. Production in 2007 was 5,500 bottles.
