In the Bas-Rhin near the town of Barr, surrounding the village of Mittelbergheim, are located the 9.5ha of vineyards owned by Lucas Rieffel and his father André. Lucas took over the reins in 1996, and he has been working towards becoming organic ever since...The 2009 harvest is 100% organic.
 
The limestone bedrock of this Mittelbergheim vineyard conjures up white floral notes while the warmth of the vintage gives this a ripe comice pear quality; firm to the touch yet juicy and sweet inside. Enticing as well as composed, this medium bodied dry wine has a deliciously honey, oily mouthfeel, with crisp acidity and elegant minerality completing the picture. Very tidy indeed. Drinking now with white meats.
