1999 Bollinger R.D.

Bollinger R.D.
A heady nose, with Bollinger's benchmark brioche and hazelnut richness, but there is much more here - a higher note of lime blossom and acacia honey for starters. The palate strikes a rich seam of autolytic complexity and is far drier than the nose might suggest. Intense, powerful and very fine indeed - this is Bollinger at its majestic best, and for the quality it is staggeringly well priced.

Bollinger R.D.
12% alcohol. Disgorged January 2011. Intense, taut and full flavoured, with complex toasty notes and bright citrus freshness. There's also fine acidity, and notes of ripe apple, as well as some nectarine richness. Overall, though, this is a powerful wine with savoury bite, and the potential for further development. Wonderful stuff.
