2010 Berrys' Sancerre, Domaine J. Sautereau, Crézancy-en-Sancerre

Berrys' Sancerre, Domaine J. Sautereau, Crezancy-en-Sancerre
David Sautereau has gone the extra mile for us in 2010 by making the Berrys' Sancerre using only wild yeasts. This has given the wine extra freshness, clarity, an enhanced sense of place. It is quite simply a more delicious drink! The fruit still comes from David's vineyards in Crézancy-en-Sancerre on a mix of 'terres blanches' and 'caillottes' soils.

The vintage 2010 was marked by a fine 'arriére saison' & harvest after a coolish summer that helped to fix the bright aromatics; the yield was naturally low due to 'millerandage' at flowering giving good ripe intensity of fruit.

Crunchy, detailed nettly notes characterise the nose while the palate has a Riesling-esque purity and lime-stone fruit quality, wrapped up in that tell-tale Kimmeridgean clay saltiness. Time to fish out some white-bait!
