It's always a pleasure to taste the wines of Andre Ostertag. From the very modern, jazzy labels - explaining the essence of the wine to his biodynamic approach and initative production methods - these wines are crafted by a man who knows exactly what he is trying to achieve and is at the top of his game.
 
Early picking ensures no botrytisand so this is a bone dry white, barrel fermented with 50% new oak used. The carefully judged oak doesn't over power the rich fruit at all but it certainly imparts real texture and weight across the palate. There's also a wonderful streak of mineral acidity to provide freshness and the edginess I look for in a great Alsacian white. A very serious Pinot Gris which I would approach from 2016 onwards.
